Fruit Winemakers (Tas) Inc

The Fruit Winemakers association was brought about to provide technical support to professional fruit winemakers and enthusiasts making their wine for non commercial purposes. One of the principal goals of the association is to support the Australian Fruit Wine Show held annually in Hobart sponsored by Rotary Club of Sorell.

The association members meet regularly throughout the year in Hobart. The meetings, lasting about 90 minutes, cover issues surrounding the fruit wine industry in Tasmania as well as technical issues associated with the making of fruit wine, ciders, meads and so on. The meetings usually include fruit wine tasting.

Recently the association has provided introductory fruit winemaking courses for the University of the Third Age (U3A - Hobart).

The association welcomes visitors and Membership is encouraged. Membership costs $25 per annum.

The current committee is made up as follows:

  • Chairman: Terry Simms
  • Treasurer: Kay Mallinson
  • Secretary: Pieter Buining
  • Public Officer: Pieter Buining
  • and four other Committee Members.
